Dunville’s Irish Whiskey partners with HS Oberoi Spirits to launch across India’s fast-growing premium market

Dunville’s Irish Whiskey will enter India’s premium spirits market following a recent strategic distribution partnership with HS Oberoi Spirits, one of India’s leading alcohol importers and distributors.

Dunville’s enjoyed global acclaim before its disappearance in the 1930s, becoming one of Ireland’s most lamented lost whiskeys.

Under the agreement, HS Oberoi Spirits will introduce the Dunville’s portfolio across key markets, including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Bengal, Goa, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh. The partnership reflects the growing momentum for premium and heritage-led whiskeys in India, which is now the world’s largest whiskey-consuming market.

Dunville’s Irish Whiskey offers an award-winning range of Irish single malts and premium blends and is particularly recognised for its distinctive sherry cask finishes. The brand is a three-time winner of Ireland’s Best Whiskey at the Irish Whiskey Awards (2022, 2023, and 2025), reinforcing its international reputation for quality and craftsmanship.

Stephen Magennis, head of global sales at Dunville’s Irish Whiskey, said: “We are delighted to announce this partnership with HS Oberoi Spirits, which will ensure Dunville’s presence in one of Irish whiskey’s most important growth markets.

“India’s whiskey consumers are increasingly discerning – seeking authenticity, heritage, and quality – and that aligns strongly with what Dunville’s represents. With over 200 years of tradition and a renewed global presence, we see India as a key market for our long-term growth.

“Finding the right partner was critical. HS Oberoi Spirits brings the expertise, market understanding and ambition required to build Dunville’s thoughtfully and sustainably across India.”

Once the world’s largest whiskey brand, Dunville’s enjoyed global acclaim before its disappearance in the 1930s, becoming one of Ireland’s most lamented lost whiskeys. The brand was revived in 2012 by Echlinville Distillery with the aim of restoring Dunville’s to its rightful place among the world’s best whiskeys. The partnership with HS Oberoi Spirits marks an important step in that journey.

Manveer Singh Oberoi, founder, HS Oberoi Spirits, said: “India today stands at the convergence of scale and sophistication. It is not only the world’s largest whiskey market, but also rapidly evolving in its appreciation for premium and well-crafted spirits. That makes it the most critical market for global whiskey brands with strong heritage and authenticity.

“At HS Oberoi Spirits, we not only help international producers to navigate into India’s complexity and diversity, but also build meaningful and long-term brand presence, not just listings. Dunville’s brings exceptional quality, backed with legacy and credibility, and we see strong potential to grow its footprint across both mature and emerging Indian markets.

“We look forward in working closely with the Dunville’s team to establish the brand with the right placement, positioning, and consumer understanding, ensuring sustainable expansion and revenue-driven growth across the country.”
